Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Sport Abroad. DESCRIPTION: From West Germany the Inter European Contest of gymnastics in which Japan took the trophy. Also from Czechoslovakia an International marathon featuring athletes from thirteen countries. The winner, from Belgium, was van den Driesche. SHOTLIST: Germany - MS Massayuki Watanabe, Japan on the horizontal bar. MCU Takashi Mitsukuri, Japan on the parallel bars. MS ditto. MCU ditto. MS T Mitsukuri finishes and lands on the floor. Czechoslovakia - MS runners in the race. MCU runner. MS pan runner No 12 running. CU runner mopping his face. MCU runners’ feet pan up runners No 35 & 36. MS pan runner No 1. LS pan runner No 1 in stadium. MS pan runner No 1 is presented with a laurel wreath, runs over finish and throws the wreath into the air. Willi Jaschek is also competing in the gymnastics. Britain’s Brian Kilby competed in the athletics.
