- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: News Events - in Colour Power Boat Race. DESCRIPTION: This year there were forty five starters in the power boat race between Cowes and Torquay. This race offers one of the toughest events anywhere in the world. The course is from Cowes, took the boats out round the Nab Tower before turning back into the Solent. Heading westwards, they then had the best of the hundred and ninety miles ahead of them before reaching Torquay.
