Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Riding on Air. DESCRIPTION: Gliding is a pastime and a serious sport, especially serious during the week of the National Gliding Championships at Lasham. And here’s the champion woman pilot, Mrs Anne Burns, who holds 4 world and a host of British records. Incidentally, the British team for next year’s World Championships will be selected from the winners of the first 15 places. We went up where the thermals are, away from the madding ground, into a world that’s strictly for the birds and the birdmen. On the beach at Le Touquet, we got a pretty vivid impression of Aeroplage - or sand-yachting. It has one advantage over gliding: if you overstep the mark, it’s not so far to fall!
