Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Up Goes the Umbrella. DESCRIPTION: Traffic in Oxford Circus came to a halt at lunch-time on Saturday: a round-the-clock, 65-hour marathon lay ahead to build an umbrella-bridge across the Circus, which will remain there for the next 3 years. Below it, Oxford Circus Underground Station will be rebuilt as part of the new Victoria Line. Pre-planned with military precision, the job was completed right on the dot - ready for the traffic after the Bank Holiday! SHOTLIST: Key scene. GV pan - department store to Oxford Circus.
