MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Contender for America’s Cup. DESCRIPTION: The sleek and shapely Sovereign. Built at the Holy Loch, she’s our newest challenge for the America’s Cup. Among enthusiasts watching the launching ceremony, carried out by Mrs Anthony Boyden, was Uffa Fox. Sovereign has been designed by David Boyd, the naval architect, who drew up the plans for the ill-fated Sceptre. Sovereign will soon be undergoing trials in the Clyde, with Sceptre as pacemaker.
