Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Artist Takes Root. DESCRIPTION: The Bad Lands of Alberta - avoided by men. Out of the Bad Lands rides a man who has discovered something else about the life hidden within this virtually lifeless place. He is Wilfred Hodgson, who is nearly 80. He draws inspiration from the Bad Lands, in particular from gnarled and twisted roots of the juniper tree. Mr Hodgson’s carvings reveal the forms he sees within these convolutions, faces and figures, life and movement unlocked from the lifeless wood. SHOTLIST: Key scene. GV hill in country. MS same.
