- Summary
- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Highway Litter-Louts. DESCRIPTION: The British are among the worst offenders for leaving litter lying about. But all those abandoned, worn-out cars, are becoming a serious eye-sore. Our film archives offer some suggestions. Take a tip from the Municipal Car-Dump at Bristol. All vehicles (found abandoned by the police) are brought here to be converted into scrap metal. They’ve got a press which crushes the components into bales for easy handling. A mechanical cannibal which consumes its fellows, with unfeeling efficiency. SHOTLIST: Key scene. Cars abandoned along roadside (3 shots). MS car pulled up. MS car drops on concrete slab. MS pan - car smashed up. GV car over cliff. GV another (2 shots). TS pan breaker’s yard. Men smashing up cars (2 shots). Parts of car being crushed (3 shots). MCU same (3 shots). Car crushed and made into small block. TS breaker’s yard. Car takes 200 foot drop (2 shots). TS same.
