DESCRIPTION: A model of the Martlet space shell, fired recently in Barbados as part of Canada’s McGill University High Altitude Research Programme. It was fired from a 16 inch naval gun. The shots designed to probe the higher layers of the earth’s atmosphere, another interesting thing is the gun itself, of a type that was used during the First World War. This one was made in 1921.
