- Summary
- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Advance in Engineering. DESCRIPTION: From the National Engineering Laboratory at East Kilbride - a new break through in metal forming which doesn’t require a press. Known as Electro-hydraulic Farming, the metal to be shaped is inserted, (inside it’s die), into a container. Water is poured in and a pressure wave produced by pass-through electrodes immersed in the water, forces the metal against the die. The electrical energy, (stored in condensers) is then triggered off into the electrodes. SHOTLIST: Key scene. GV inside the National Engineering Laboratory, engineer assembles circular object - puts it into larger container and pours liquid in then closes it (4 shots). MS engineer looks at machine. CU dial showing kilowatt. CU switch being pressed, engineer dismantles object and takes out the finished article. (This is a new type of metal forming without a press, known as Electro-hydraulic Farming).
