- Summary
- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: High and Dry. DESCRIPTION: A piece of good news from the ship building industry, the completion of this new dry dock on the Tyne. It’s 850 ft long and 145 ft wide at the entrance, it’s capable of taking super tankers of 80,000 tons, and all but the largest of the world’s liners. Vessels are manoeuvred in by tugs, then by means of the lead in cables which keep them on a central course. Pumping dry takes less than 2 hours, with some 30 million gallons to empty. The firm are now in a position to deal with 800 large tankers, which they couldn’t have accommodated before. SHOTLIST: Key scene. GV pan - new dry dock (3 shots). MS pan - ship. Ship into dry dock (7 shots). MLS ship in dry dock. MS same. Men welding (3 shots). Men cleaning and painting ship (3 shots). GV ship in dry dock. (This new dry dock is for super tankers).
