Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Festival of London. DESCRIPTION: For 3 weeks, the sober, dignified City of London has been a centre of festivity. One of them was the Tideway Race between Putney and the Tower. Conditions were tricky, and more than one crew ended up on the closest personal terms with Old Father Thames! Another item on the festival’s varied bill of fare was the ox-roasting in the shadow of St Paul’s. The Lord Mayor of London, Sir Frederick Hoare, carved the first slice. A glittering display of fireworks brought the festival to an end. SHOTLIST: Key scene. GV yacht sailing. MS ditto. MS boat under bridge. GV yachts past Big Ben. MS dinghy in trouble.
