DESCRIPTION: During the famous regatta, the Thames at Henley becomes one of the busiest stretches of river in the world, and there was a record entry of more than 200 crews, including representatives from 9 overseas countries. For the ladies, it was yet another excuse for buying a new hat!. One of the most popular of all events is the Thames Challenge Cup. There was an interesting heat between Phillips Academy from the United States and New College and St Peter’s College, Oxford. Mary Bignall, the Olympic athlete, watched the finish which proved to be a convincing win for the American crew. Now, Radley and Shrewsbury competing for the Princess Elizabeth Challenge Cup.
