MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Central Africa - Vision in Wood. DESCRIPTION: This church at a Central African mission has become noted for its magnificent carvings. Father Grober who arrived here from Switzerland in 1948, discovered the natural talent of the local people for wood-carving, a talent he has done much to encourage. The result, a series of striking African interpretations of Christian themes. One of the finest examples is the beautiful church door, depicting scenes from the New Testament. SHOTLIST: GV church.
