Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Top of the Ladder. DESCRIPTION: A demonstration by the London Fire Brigade was given at their headquarters on the Albert Embankment. They showed practice runs with ladders, and how to deal successfully with an oil fire. Their routine is firmly based on team-work, but there are frequent examples of outstanding individual courage. Such courage was rewarded when Lord Mountbatten presented a certificate of commendation to Sub-Officer Cakebread, at the top of his ladder the officer caught and held a badly burned man who’d flung himself from a window.
