- Summary
- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Northern Ireland’s Welcome. DESCRIPTION: The Queen and Duke arrived in Northern Ireland and were received by the Governor-General, Lord Wakehurst. Before driving into Belfast, Her Majesty and Prince Philip spent a short while looking round Carrickfergus Castle, built in the 12th century. In Belfast, the Queen visited the factory of a leading linen manufacturer. The name Harland and Wolfe is a byword for fine ships. Her Majesty got a great welcome when she arrived to tour the company’s yards. The Royal visit coincided with the regatta of the Royal Ulster Yacht Club. While Her Majesty presented a cup to the winner of one of the races, Prince Philip and crewman Uffa Fox went sailing. SHOTLIST: Key scene. MS Queen steps ashore greeted by Governor.
