Summary

MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Chaos on the Track - Indy 500 Mile Race. DESCRIPTION: When the balloons go up beside the track at Indianapolis, spectators know it’s time for the start of the world’s most chancy motor-race. 500 miles of thrills, with the spectre of disaster holding a watching brief all the way. The big thrill wasn’t long in coming, a six-car pile-up. A somersault, and a wheel runs amok. No-one was seriously injured, and the gruelling race went on. Jack Brabham was ninth, but of 33 starters, only 12 finished, with Foyt the winner. His average speed was over 138 miles an hour. SHOTLIST: Key scene. GV balloons go up - track in picture.
