Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: The Archbishop in Holy Land. DESCRIPTION: Following the footsteps of countless pilgrims to the Holy Land, visiting Bethlehem and the Church of the Nativity, the Archbishop of Canterbury everywhere received the most cordial welcome from all denominations. His tour included visits to every important shrine of the Holy City. The armistice line divides Jerusalem between Jordan and Israel, and it was here at the Mandelbaum Gate, that Dr Fisher crossed from Jordan. He was welcomed by the Mayor, and presently he went to pay a call on the Chief Rabbi, Itzhak Nissim. The Archbishop also inspected the Dead Sea scrolls before returning to Jordan.
