MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Thompson Still Walking. DESCRIPTION: Competitors were setting out before dawn, near Milan, on Italy’s annual big walk, a race of a hundred kilometres, over sixty-two miles. Don Thompson, Britain’s Olympic gold medallist, was soon out in front. On his way to victory, he set an unofficial world record for fifty kilometres. Don was out to set a record for the race itself, and this he accomplished: 8 hours, 19 minutes, 37 seconds. SHOTLIST: Key scene. MS start of race. MLS Don Thompson in the lead. CU Don walking.
