Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: HMS Dreadnought. DESCRIPTION: At Barrow in Furness, the Royal Navy’s first nuclear powered submarine was launched by Her Majesty, who was accompanied by Sir Charles Dunphie (of Vickers Armstrong) and Prince Philip. The submarine’s first Captain, Commander Samborne, as well as other members of her company had the honour of presentation. The ninth Dreadnought, at 3,500 tons, Britain’s largest submarine, is expected to come into commission in 1962. SHOTLIST: Key scene (fade). GV Dreadnought awaits launching. GV same. CU same.
