MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Presidential Review. DESCRIPTION: Flags of Greece, Cyprus and Turkey, flying on the outskirts of Nicosia, proclaimed a notable occasion in the new Republic. Many guests had been invited to witness the ceremony, which was led by Archbishop Makarios, President of Cyprus. The Archbishop, accompanied by Vice-President Kutchuk, came to carry out an inspection of the troops who’d just arrived to garrison the island. 950 come from Greece, 650 from Turkey, and both contingents are expected to work together in complete harmony.
