- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: British Athletes Win. DESCRIPTION: Our pictures show the ten thousand metres in the England v Italy match at the White City. Eldon won this event easily by 300 yards. In the hundred metres, Radford followed up a fine start with a flash of his true form. Evidently fit again, he gave Berruti (Italy) his first defeat of the season. Time: 10.4. Now, the hundred and ten metres hurdles. Hildreth won the race in 14.5. The fifteen hundred metres were a particularly interesting event in this Olympic forerunner. Kent-Smith was in the lead, and Pirie ‘way back. Then, for a spell, Rizzo (Italy) was in front. When Kent-Smith, the farmer from Devonshire, took over again, there was no holding him.
