Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Barotse Welcome. DESCRIPTION: A spectacular view of the Victoria Falls was one of the sights enjoyed by the Queen Mother during her tour. As she was looking down on the great plain straddling the Zambesi, the people of the Protectorate carried on with their daily chores, apparently unaware of the great visit. A big welcome was being prepared all the same. A river trip was one highlight of the Queen Mother’s visit. Her transport was the royal barge, called the Nalikwanda, used by the Paramount Chief during the annual Zambesi flood. He was with the Queen Mother on this river-trip. The other highlight was the ceremonial welcome at the Royal House by Sir Mwanawina III, the Paramount Chief, with a splendid display of dancing. SHOTLIST: GV Victoria Falls.
