Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Tommy to the Rescue. DESCRIPTION: Two houses in Dortmund were destroyed by an explosion, and prompt help was given by British troops, stationed in the area. The troops, mostly from 47 Guided Weapons Regiment RA, were of great assistance to German rescuers under extremely difficult conditions. The explosions, which happened early in the morning and is believed to have been caused by leaking gas, blew up one house and set the next one on fire. Over 40 grown-ups and a number of children lived in the houses, and it’s feared that at least 30 lives were lost. SHOTLIST: LS rescue workers in rubble. LS soldiers. MS same.
