Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Malayan Centenary. DESCRIPTION: Once just a mining village near the confluence of two muddy rivers, Kuala Lumpur is to-day a busy capital with skyscraper buildings. And it’s now a hundred years old. The birthday party was inaugurated by the 85-year-old daughter of a Chinese pioneer. KL put on a terrific show, and the whole town was determined to make a night of it. It’s worth to remember that British protection and administration created this great city. It is now the prosperous capital of the Independent Federation of Malaya. SHOTLIST: CU Kuala Lumpur celebration sign. LS river. LS palace. Aerial view skyscrapers. Same. GV a skyscraper. Same.
