MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: The Prince in the Far East. DESCRIPTION: Rangoon Airport: the Comet IV brought Prince Philip on another stage of his world tour. He was welcomed by the Prime Minister, who headed the reception. One of the Prince’s early engagements was a garden party at the President’s Palace. A highlight was the performance by Burmese dancers. The Prince had a chat with leading Burmese people and received a replica of the Royal Yacht. Britannia herself lay moored off Rangoon, ready to take His Royal Highness to Singapore. Ships of the Far East fleet steamed close to Britannia on passage to salute the Prince. The line was led by HMS Ceylon. Singapore now: Prince Philip had been received by the Governor, Sir William Goode. A ceremonial parade and the inspection of the Guard of Honour provided the official side of the welcome. There was also a warm greeting from the citizens. SHOTLIST: Low angle pagoda (key).
