- Summary
- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Dam Busters Recalled. DESCRIPTION: The recent draining of the Sorpe dam reservoir in West Germany revealed an unexploded, 12,000 pound bomb dropped by the RAF over fourteen years ago. (Flashback now to 1943: Lancaster bombers of the RAF preparing for the first of the dam-busting raids. The famous and successful attack was led by Wing Commander Gibson, who won the VC). The de-fusing of the bomb was a nice bit of Anglo-German co-operation: between Herr Walter Mitzke, a German expert, and Flight-Lieutenant James Waters of the RAF. SHOTLIST: GV pan reservoir.
