Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Vickers Vanguard & High Altitude Test Plant. DESCRIPTION: Weybridge, and the first of the Vickers Vanguards under construction. It will carry a hundred passengers at over 420 miles an hour over distances of up to 2,600 miles. First orders include twenty for BEA and another twenty for Trans-Canada Air Lines. Deliveries are expected to begin in 1960. The first Vanguard will be flying in the Autumn. Now to Bristol, where new High Altitude Test plant made important aviation news. Air Marshal Tuttle, who came to perform the inauguration, was shown a ramjet engine in its testing chamber. The Air Marshal, by turning a key, put the test plant into action.
