Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Fuchs at the Pole. DESCRIPTION: The end of a two-month trek, perhaps the toughest in the world. Dr Fuchs’ train of Snocats, Sledges and Weasels reached the South Pole from Shakleton Base, nine hundred miles away. Sir Edmund Hillary had flown from Scott Base to be the first to greet Dr Fuchs and his party. SHOTLIST: MS man waves from Snocat vehicle. MS to CU Husky dog team arrive. MS both parties shake hands. CU Sir Edmund Hillary & Dr Fuchs shake hands. CU Dr Fuchs. CU Dr Fuchs and Sir Edmund Hillary. CU Fuchs, Hillary & party turn towards American Base. Both parties walk away from camera towards American Base.
