Summary
West Germany has been in the throes of a General Election to choose a party or a coalition to lead the country for the next four years. The poll was heavy and the first time in Germany history, serving soldiers were entitled to record their votes. Dr Konrad Adenauer had carried out a most energetic campaign in spite of his 81 years. In the event her and his Christian Democrat were swept to victory.
