Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Opening of Scout Jamboree & Guides. DESCRIPTION: Thirty-four thousand assembled at Sutton Coldfield, for the ninth World Scout Jamboree. Over eighty counties were represented. Lady Baden-Powell (widow of the founder) was present as World Chief Guide. The Duke of Gloucester performed the opening ceremony, he was received by the Mayor of Sutton Coldfield (Councillor Mrs Smith) and Lord Rowallan, Chief Scout. SHOTLIST: MS Glove, centrepiece of the camp. Duke of Gloucester alights from helicopter and is greeted. MS Duke & party leave helicopter. MS scouts taking photograph. MS pan Lady Baden-Powell walks past. GV pan of scene. Duke and Lord Rowallan arrive on rostrum. CU scouts. Lord Rowallan speaks (sound). MS scouts from Iran. Duke of Gloucester speaking (sound).
