Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Royal Visit to the Channel Islands. DESCRIPTION: Jersey was the first to receive the Royal visitors to the Channel Islands. Admiral Sir Gresham Nicholson (the Lieutenant Governor) and the Bailiff (Sir Alexander Coustanche) received them at Albert Pier. A film record is recalled of liberation day in May 1945. At the Victoria Cottage Homes, old folk had gathered from various homes in Jersey for the honour of presentation. At Springfield, Her Majesty accepted the gift of a Jersey Cow. At Government House, more presents for Prince Charles and Princess Anne, and a typical Jersey milk can, made of silver. SHOTLIST: GV royal barge entering the harbour. LS crowds watching.
