Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Vive La Reine. DESCRIPTION: The second day of the Queen’s stay in Paris - she attended a reception at the City Hall. After the Chairman of the Council had offered his welcome, the Royal party proceeded to the Grand Salon for the official ceremonies of a civic greeting. After the presentation of a bouquet was made, gifts for the royal children were then offered to the Queen. The historic Palace of Versailles, was the scene of Her Majesty’s next engagement. Inside the former royal apartments, there was a wealth of historic detail to inspect. Luncheon was taken in the magnificent Hall of Mirrors. In the evening, Her Majesty embarked in a launch for a cruise up the River Seine. The great Cathedral of Notre Dame, like many famous landmarks, on the route, was flood lit. The next day the Queen visited General Norstad. Later in the afternoon, the Queen and Prince Philip inspected the Renault car works at Flins, a suburb of the capital. Her Majesty’s last engagement in Paris was at the Louvre, which was once a residence of French Kings, and is now the most renowned museums of art in the world. The banquet and the reception brought her Paris visit to a close. SHOTLIST: GV of drive. Flag. City Hall. Crowds. Top shot drive. Crowd. Interiors. City Hall. Grand Salon. CU Duke. CU Queen.
