Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Suez Operation. DESCRIPTION: The lifting of the last major obstacle in the Suez Canal, as watched by United Nations officials, Dr Bunche and Mr Hammarskjold, together with the Emergency Force Commander, General Burns. The vessel was the Edgar Bonnet, which was sunk last November when Colonel Nasser sabotaged the Canal. SHOTLIST: Several LS shots of the crane ships with lifting operation. Hammarskjold walking on the shore of the Canal. Inspecting from a ship, standing from left to right, Dr Bunche, Hammarskjold, Jack Connors (General Wheeler’s assistant), and General Wheeler in civilian clothes. General Burns taking stills.
