Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Duke of Edinburgh’s Tour of South Atlantic Islands and Michael Parker Returned. DESCRIPTION: Britannia had sailed completely round the world when she took the Duke to the remote islands of the South Atlantic. He experienced the rugged quality of its landscape, stumbling over the rocks, while local inhabitants demonstrated how easy it can be. Meanwhile after announcing his resignation as the Duke’s Private Secretary, Commander Michael Parker returned home. Back to the South Atlantic, to Tristan Da Cunha where the Duke went to Edinburgh Settlement. Northwards to St Helena - then Ascension Island - a dependency of St Helena, which has an important cable and radio transmitting station. SHOTLIST: GOUGH ISLAND - LV of Britannia shot through a cave.
