- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: UNO in Egypt. DESCRIPTION: On Nasser’s orders blockships of many types had been sunk in the Canal and at its Northern approach. It was estimated that they number about 30. British divers have made under-water surveys. As soon as the Port Said fighting was over, repairs to power plants, pumping stations and other public utility services were put in hand by British Engineers. Off duty in Port Said, a group of paratroopers were seen with a small Egyptian youngster. In the harbour, the arrival of a big Tank Landing Ship, which brought the first United Nations representatives to Egypt since the crisis. They were soon in touch with General Stockwell, the British Commander who offered every facility for their task. SHOTLIST: Canal: Sunken ships. British divers diving in the Canal. Interior power plant etc. British engineers inspecting damage. Shots of waterworks (undamaged). British paratroopers grin at cameras. Informal shots. Arrival of big tank landing ship, coming in to harbour (carrying UN representatives). General Stockwell welcomes them ashore. They drive away. Shots of their cars travelling toward the front line.
