MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Hillary Trains for Polar Expedition. DESCRIPTION: The Majestic Tasman Glacier in the Southern Alps of New Zealand is the training ground for the forthcoming New Zealand Expedition to the Antarctic. Sir Edmund Hillary will be leading the expedition. SHOTLIST: Scenes of training in the Mount Cook area of New Zealand’s Southern Alps. Sir Edmund with Bob Miller tests walkie talkie equipment. Feeding the Husky dogs. Pilots learn to handle ski planes, practising take offs and landings. One plane is damaged and Sir Edmund checks the extent on plane.
