Commentary: Models of the Preston By-Pass scheme, give an impression of the new road as it will be. Over 8 miles long, it will be the first motorway to be built in Britain. It will have no footpaths and pedestrians, cyclists and horse drawn traffic will not be allowed. It’s planned as part of the North South Motorway to be built from Birmingham to Shap. The inauguration was carried out by Mr Hugh Molson.
