MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Trooping the Colour 1956. DESCRIPTION: To mark the Queen’s official birthday - the greatest military spectacle of the year. After the royal salute, Her Majesty, (followed by the Duke of Edinburgh and the Duke of Gloucester) proceeded to inspect the eight Guards on parade and the Sovereign’s Escort. This year, the Escort for the Colour was provided by the Grenadier Guards. The climax of the parade ground was the march past. The final picture of a brilliant event is the acknowledgement of the people’s loyal greeting by the Queen and her family. SHOTLIST: Out of Palace. GV carriage. SCU with Royal children. Queen Mother. Arrival of Royal spectators. SCU Queen on horse (Winston). CU Royal salute, present arms. Her Majesty followed by the Duke of Edinburgh and the Duke of Gloucester inspects the eight guards on parade and the Sovereign’s Escort. Music of massed bands and drums of the brigade of Guards. Colour handed over to the Ensign Second Lieutenant Monson. Colour presented to the Third Battalion Grenadier Guards by Queen and is then trooped. March past. CU Queen at head of guards, back to Palace.
