Summary

MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Nicosia Races. DESCRIPTION: Security Patrols were on duty in Nicosia through out Christmas Day. In spite of this there was Christmas Fare. This included Christmas Dinner with the Royal Engineers, a children’s Christmas party and Boxing Day races. SHOTLIST: GV racecourse and paddock. CU girl in floral jacket, man in local dress of baggy pants. Englishman in riding habit and shooting stick. LS horses at tapes for start of the race. MS start of the race, one horse gets caught up in the tapes and does a complete somersault unseating his rider and falling heavily. They are unhurt and the race is restarted. GV horses coming into the straight. GVs meeting. CU cameramen Mr Egby acts as the losing punter at the end of the meeting, turns out his empty pockets and walks away disgruntled.
