Mr Baty (General Secretary of ASLEF) makes speech: I’m glad its come to an end, we look forward to the days of success so we hope that by tomorrow to see British railways that have always been a ??? working normally and to the satisfaction of all concerned. Sir Wilfred Neden (Chief Conciliation Officer at the Ministry) makes a speech: I’d like to say that it has been one of the most difficult problems we’ve had to deal with for quite a long time in the Ministry, but it has had a happy ending and I’m quite sure that everybody is very much relieved. Sir Walter Monckton (Ministry of Labour) makes a speech: I’m just going off to the House to announce that the strike is over. I’ve never been more satisfied with the end of a strike in my life.
