Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: The Shah of Persia and the Queen’s Last Engagements. DESCRIPTION: The Shah of Persia made a tour of the Royal Air Force Station at Biggin Hill, shortly before leaving for Persia. Queen Soraya, meanwhile, attended a fashion show organised by the Incorporated Society of London Fashion Designers. The Duke of Gloucester was at London Airport when their Imperial Majesties left for home. SHOTLIST: GV cars arriving at Biggin Hill and driving round the airfield. The cars seen driving past parked Meteors on the snow covered airstrip. Next the Shah is seen standing on a rostrum in the hangar where he is next seen inspecting a guard of honour. CUs of the Shah being shown the latest jets. Seen actually sitting in the cockpit of one aircraft. Now to Hamilton House, Piccadilly. First shot is a group of models curtsying before the Queen Soraya who is at the fashion show. CU of the Queen wearing an unusually attractive hat. GVs of various models displaying suits and evening wear. A shot of the Queen closely scrutinising one evening attire. Final CU of Queen Soraya. Then to London Airport for the departure of the Persian royals, who are first seen walking in a party, including the Duke of Gloucester towards the runway. Some CUs of the Shah and the Queen shaking hands with the Duke. One CU of the Bulldog belonging to the Queen Soraya. The Shah and the Queen now board the KLM aircraft. The party waves goodbye. The plane taxies off.
