MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Us Naval Disaster. DESCRIPTION: The worst disaster of American peace-time Naval history, when an explosion rocked the aircraft-carrier Bennington. Ninety-one seamen lost their lives and over 200 were injured in the resulting fire. SHOTLIST: Cut story - KS. Aerial of Carrier. Aircraft Carrier Bennington steaming into port. Aircraft Carrier on quay (Quonset Point Rhode Island). Various shots of crew covered in soot. Men lowering stretchers from ship. Many injured taken to awaiting ambulances. Injured and soot covered crew landing. Ninety odd men were killed and many injured in this disaster.
