MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Olympic Games 1952. DESCRIPTION: Important events include in this issue are. The women’s 100 metres final, won by Marjorie Jackson of Australia. The 800 metres final, won by Whitfield who once again beat Arthur Wint. The Pole Vault won by Richards of America. The 5,000 metres, in which Chris Chataway looked a possible winner until he stumbled 150 yards from the finish - Zatopek won from Mimoun of France. The Women’s 80 metres hurdles won by Shirley Strikland of Australia. SHOTLIST: Cut story - KS. Sign of the Games (5 circles). Newsreel cameramen working, includes Paul Wyand. Women’s 100 metres - Marjorie Jackson wins comfortable. CU winner on platform. Men’s 800 metres - Wint in lead, Whitfield (USA) lay back, Whitfield takes over lead & holds it. Ulzheimer falls at finish (3rd). Pole Vault - Richards of USA wins, - performing. 5,000 Metres - start & Chataway in amongst the crowd, takes the lead. Various shots of the race with Chataway somewhere near the lead. Pirie takes over lead. Chataway makes his final effort & takes lead, & on the bend trip on the verge of the track, Zatopek takes lead followed by Mimoun (France) & Schade (3rd). Pirie 4th. Chataway (5th), people sympathise with Chataway. 80 Metres Hurdles - Shirley Strickland takes lead, Fanny Blankers-Koen falls at hurdles, former goes on to win. CU Strickland.
