- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: News From USA. DESCRIPTION: Tragedy resulted from a fire which ravaged the Danish motor-ship Erria as she lay off Astoria, Oregon. Somewhere off Korea, the American Submarine Volador recently went to the rescue of a crashed helicopter. Finally, washed ashore at Edgemar Beach, California, a 3,000 pound World War Two American mine is relieved of some of its lethal content by Naval Experts before the mine is exploded. SHOTLIST: Cut story - Elevated GV ship, aerials of burning ship Erria (Danish). Various shots of fire, launches around burning ship, playing water on same off Astoria, Oregon. Off Korea - Aboard submarine Volador some of crew run along deck, in background tail of helicopter sticks out of water, crew & passenger of helicopter in water, being pulled towards sub., two of crew swimming towards survivors. Posed shot on deck. Edgemar Beach. California - GV mine washed ashore, naval officer emptying TNT content out of same. MS & GV of same being exploded, cut-in men setting the fuse, also taking photograph.
