Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Overhaul for Giant Cunarder. DESCRIPTION: The 81,000 - ton Queen Mary, in the King George the Fifth dry dock at Southampton, has been having her annual overhaul; it’s a little chore that lasts five weeks and involves over two thousand workmen of pretty well every trade. SHOTLIST: Cut story - KS. GV Queen Mary. Tilt down bows of QM in dry dock. CU anchor chain in fore with name on bows of ship. Tilt down to men working, scraping, painting etc. bottom of ship. Optical - MS lounge, shows carpets being unrolled, men polishing & painting woodwork. MS Marine Bar. GV of the lounge bar. Laying lino. Painting life-belts. Stacks of curtaining being checked. Checking cups, crockery, plates, etc. GV QM funnel, exterior. Looking up the inside of the funnel. MS inside top of funnel. Looking down on ship from crows-nest. Several shots decks being overhauled. Elevated GV workers leaving ship. GV of ship, also GV QM lit up at night.
