MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: The Lord Mayor’s Show. DESCRIPTION: A march-past at Guildhall, with the new Lord Mayor (Sir Leslie Boyce) taking the salute gave spectators a foretaste of this year’s show. Sir Leslie, a former MP for Gloucester, is a native of New South Wales, and the first Australian to hold this exacted office. After the traditional ceremony at the Law Courts, Sir Leslie was received by the Australian High Commissioner at Australia House, where a message from Mr Menzies was read on behalf of his countrymen. SHOTLIST: Cut story - KS. Lord Mayor’s coach passes camera - CU. MS Guildhall. New Lord Mayor Sir Leslie Boyce, on platform taking salute. Boyce enters coach, drives off. Boyce acknowledging crowds. Cut-in crowds. Ludgate Circus, procession passing along. Servicemen in procession, Army, Navy & Air Force, Guards in full dress. LM’s coach draws up at Law Courts, to a fanfare of trumpets. CU coach-driver. MS Australian flag flying over Australia House, tilt down. CU name Australia House. Mr White, High Commissioner at mike, Lord Mayor walks up. Mr White congratulates him being the first Dominion person to become Lord Mayor. Hand shakes. Cut-ins of crowds waving, etc. Ex Lord Mayor Lowson also seen in procession.
