- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Opening of the British Amateur Open Gold. DESCRIPTION: The Amateur Gold Championship, played over the links of Royal Porthcawl, is, of-course a very serious business, even Bob Hope was taking it seriously. Mr Fox of Hull, however, beat him two and one. SHOTLIST: Cut story - KS. Bob Hope putting. SCU board reading Open Golf - 1951. Bob Hope putting-practice. Newsreel sound cameramen on trucks in fore players in background. Mr C Fox & Bob Hope shake hands. Ditto different lense, both before mike talking to one another. Bob Hope with tam-o’-shanter (hat) on Hope walks towards first green. Hope drives off, & says one of my regular drives. Crowds walk forward. LS Hope in rough & walking out followed by crowd. Hope chipping & saunters across green, putting & missing. Hope drives, says excellent, that’s miraculous, crowd laugh. Hope putts & holes out. Walks off green, Fox putts & wins game. Hand shakes. CU Hope & Fox interviewed. Fox says You’re the nicest opponent I’ve ever had. Hope replies Shall we kiss now to finish.
