Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Labour Party’s Farewell to Ernest Bevin. DESCRIPTION: The straight, sombre road to Golders Green crematorium was lined by a multitude of mourners for the funeral of Ernest Bevin. His Cabinet Colleagues were there and Mrs Attlee deputised for the Prime Minister. SHOTLIST: Cut story - KS. Crowd line street (approach) to crematorium. Arrivals at crematorium. Mr Morrison, Mr Chuter Ede, Mr Shinwell. Mrs Attlee alights from car. Hearse slowing along road, coffin carried along cloisters. Mourners, which naturally includes Mrs Bevin walk along cloisters, with Mrs Attlee holding her hand. Mrs Attlee helps Mrs Bevin into car. Cabinet & government ministers walk along cloisters, including Hugh Gaitskell. Several shots of wreaths, flowers, etc. Card reading Mr Ernest Bevin.
