Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: FA Cup Semi-Finals. DESCRIPTION: BLACKPOOL V BIRMINGHAM - The Semi-Final was played on the Manchester City ground and neither side managed to score. (72 secs). WOLVES V NEWCASTLE - This Semi final was played at Hillsborough and also ended in a goalless draw. (97secs). Wolverhampton Wanderers v Newcastle United. SHOTLIST: Cut story. Blackpool v Birmingham - Manchester City ground, Blackpool’s atomic boys dressed up, also duck waddles across pitch. Johnston (Blackpool) wins toss, Trigg (birmingham) kicks off. Blackpool attack hard. Stan Mortensen hurt, assisted off pitch. Stanley matthews makes several runs down wing, but just doesn’t make the goal. General play in second half, Merrick makes several saves in Birmingham goal. Cut in cheering crowds. Newcastle v. Wolves - CU FA Cup. Various shots of crowds at Hillsborough. Elevated MS kick-off by Newcastle, in stripes. Swinbourne scores a disallowed goal, Wolves supporters cheer & so do the team thinking it is a goal, ball was handled before entering goal. Walker on right wing with ball. Milburn attacks N/C goal & scores an off-side goal. Various attacking shots both ends, Half time, various general play. Mitchell down left wing, only goalie to beat, puts ball right into his hands. Blackpool v. Birmingham - Manchester City ground. Blackpool’s atomic boys - dressed up, also their duck waddles across pitch. Johnston wins toss, Trigg (Birmingham) kick-off. Blackpool attack hard. Mortensen hurt, assisted off pitch.
