Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: King of the Belgians Returns. DESCRIPTION: After his early morning flight from Switzerland, Leopold III, King of the Belgians, landed at Evere Airport after six years in exile. His return, however, could not have been described as a royal homecoming, nevertheless, there was a crowd of Royalists near the Palace to give their King a welcome. Ex-Premier Paul Spaak, on the contrary together with other Socialist Ministers, promptly resigned. SHOTLIST: KS. GV Evere Airfield. Plane taxies, King Leopold walks across airfield, inspects Guard of Honour. Driving in closed car through streets. Troops line streets. Walks in grounds of Laeken Castle with Prince Baudouin & Prince Albert. Cut-in cheering crowds. Mix to M Spaak walking through streets leading crowds of Socialists to palace. Various shots of scuffles in the streets between anti & pro-Royalists.
